Objective

Dr. Oetker, a leading German food company at both national and international levels, has over 100 years of history, meeting consumer needs by offering diverse, high-quality, and sustainable products.

Despite its large production capacity, at its Netherlands site, a solution was needed to measure OEE in real time across 5 packaging lines.

Challenge

The goal of Dr. Oetker Netherlands was to achieve optimal control of data and transparency within the production line. Additionally, they aimed to increase confidence in the accuracy of the collected data and information.

For this reason, the implementation of MES software capable of measuring real-time OEE for the 5 packaging lines was proposed.

Solution

To implement the MES Objective System at Dr. Oetker Netherlands, a proof of concept was first carried out to demonstrate the system’s applicability. Based on a positive evaluation of this test, new sensors were installed, along with a line interface and full application of the OEE module.

Results

After completing the pilot test, a significant reduction in investment costs was observed, as well as a substantial increase in the reliability of OEE data from the packaging lines. This enabled faster and easier analysis of real-time data, making production much more efficient.

Michael Schubert: “The analysis of the results is quick and easy, and the data is now obtained in real time and used efficiently.” He evaluated the outcome very positively, emphasizing that deploying a pilot of the MES Objective system allowed unnecessary costs to be reduced to a minimum. Additionally, it helped to assess the investment in much greater detail.
