On May 22nd, the Consellera d’Empresa i Coneixement (Minister of Business and Knowledge) of the Government of Catalonia, Àngels Chacón, made an official visit to Geprom’s facilities in Castelldefels. During the visit, the minister and her team had the opportunity to get a firsthand look at the company and its various projects and solutions in the field of Industry 4.0 and industrial automation.
As she toured the offices, Chacón was introduced to Geprom’s most innovative products. A motorized LEGO model, controlled via a PLC, was used to demonstrate the real-time operation of the MES Legato Sapient monitoring software, including system alarms and stoppages. The minister’s team also experienced virtual reality applied to industry, using the Visionary Render program from Virtalis, one of Geprom’s technology partners.
The visit concluded with a discussion space, where the current state and importance of Industry 4.0 were discussed, as well as the business and commercial landscape in Castelldefels and Catalonia.
“Concepts like Big Data, artificial intelligence, blockchain, or IoT will bring about a major transformation in the job market. In a rapidly changing environment, we will need to be educated, open-minded, and adaptable, and above all, flexible — both at the business and individual level,” said Chacón.
