The new agreement focuses on developing new solutions and extends their commercialization to the international market. It will allow Telefónica Tech’s IoT & Big Data unit to enhance the automation proposal for planning systems, production control, quality, logistics, and maintenance within the Connected Industry 4.0. Additionally, the portfolio will now include added-value services such as digital twin, predictive maintenance, and blockchain.
Geprom, in turn, strengthens its relationship with Telefónica and develops new capabilities, maximizing the competitiveness and efficiency that the digitalization era offers.
Madrid, December 17, 2020 — Telefónica Tech and Geprom Connecting Industries, a Spanish engineering firm specialized in industrial automation and digital transformation, today announced a global commercial agreement to expand their collaboration in developing and marketing new automation, control, and process supervision solutions in the connected industrial environment.
These solutions help companies manage production in real-time, perform advanced planning and scheduling of activities, ensure product quality, control assets, and improve production efficiency. At the same time, they enable full digital control over logistics and warehouse processes in a secure, sustainable manner, contributing to new business models. The current COVID-19 pandemic has made it clear that in order to maintain business competitiveness, optimizing processes and maximizing productivity through digital transformation is more important than ever.
Moreover, with this new agreement, the solution portfolio expands to include added-value services such as digital twin, predictive maintenance, and blockchain — technologies increasingly in demand for optimizing production processes in the wake of the ongoing health crisis.
Joint solutions developed by Telefónica Tech with partners like Geprom make the journey to the wireless factory easier, improving the mobility and adaptability of production processes across all sectors, thanks to the use of 5G cellular technology and IoT sensors. Additionally, the low latency of these networks, the convergence of all management, control, and execution systems for production, and the integration of all data sources into a single platform simplify real-time decision-making and unify the production process.
Real-time information collection also enables advanced analytics, applying all Big Data and Artificial Intelligence capabilities in a predictive way. Additionally, integrating Blockchain capabilities ensures traceability of the entire production process across multiple actors, guaranteeing data immutability, irrefutability, transparency, and security. These functionalities will allow the integration of smart contracts, a type of contract enabled by Blockchain that eliminates intermediaries and simplifies processes, digitally strengthening the relationship between businesses.
“This agreement allows us to expand our capabilities in the industrial sector, where our customers are increasingly requesting integrated solutions with our IoT industrial networks. This will enable us to offer comprehensive services and assist them in their digitalization process, evolving to Industry 4.0 with partners like Geprom,” said Elena Gil, Operations and Product Director in the IoT & Big Data unit at Telefónica Tech.
“With this international collaboration agreement, we continue to advance in offering a differentiated value proposition in the market, providing companies with a wide range of solutions, products, and services to help their processes adapt to the continuous changes that digital transformation demands,” said Dario Cesena Forcada, CEO of Geprom.
Telefónica and Geprom have collaborated for years, offering industrial digitalization solutions in Spain. The new agreement increases the geographical scope of their collaboration and strengthens their product portfolio.
