Darío Cesena Forcada, CEO of Geprom Connecting Industries, and María Luisa de Urquía, Director of Enterprise at Telefónica Spain, have signed an agreement today aimed at enhancing cooperation between both companies in developing key initiatives for the connected Industry 4.0.
This collaboration will enable industrial clients to adopt digitalization solutions across various areas — including production, maintenance, logistics, and others — where new technologies are playing a crucial role today. The implementation of Geprom and Telefónica Empresas’ products and services in industrial processes, products, and assets aims to:
- increase productivity,
- reduce costs,
- improve real-time process visibility and transparency,
- eliminate paper usage in factories,
- enhance quality management and traceability in real time,
all through the application of cutting-edge technologies.
With this agreement, both companies are advancing their joint leadership strategy as reference providers of digitalization and modernization solutions for Spanish industry. At the same time, it addresses the growing need to transform production environments by integrating new solutions enabled by Industry 4.0 technologies. This includes defining cross-functional factory management capabilities and orchestrating production among people, machines, PLCs, sensors, and autonomous industrial vehicles (AGVs), among many others.
Geprom will contribute several leading and innovative platforms currently used by major companies in the automotive, auxiliary, food, chemical and pharmaceutical, logistics, and energy sectors. It will also contribute its industrial expertise and turnkey project development capabilities, thanks to its industrial automation team.
Telefónica Empresas will provide a full range of new IoT connectivity options for the factory (Ethernet, Wi-Fi, VPN, LPWA, LTE-P, 5G, etc.), which will act as key enablers, alongside cloud storage and processing environments. The company will also bring its advanced capabilities in Big Data, analytics, and industrial cybersecurity solutions.
“At Geprom, we develop turnkey projects using new technologies for the management, control, and real-time monitoring of production through LEGATO SAPIENT, one of the world’s most advanced MES (Manufacturing Execution System) platforms. Additionally, we currently offer a range of products being integrated by major global clients for real-time quality and traceability management, automated warehouse control, and virtual reality tools for maintenance and training. All of this is complemented by our full suite of industrial automation services — from machine vision integration to electrical engineering, transport systems, and commissioning — delivering added value, convenience, and safety for our clients,” explains Darío Cesena, CEO of Geprom.
As a leader in enterprise digital transformation, Telefónica Empresas is partnering with Geprom to develop Industry 4.0 projects using its capabilities in IoT, Cloud, and Big Data. According to a recent study by Accenture and the MWC, this sector is expected to impact 3.6% of Spain’s GDP in the coming years. María Luisa de Urquía, Director of Enterprise at Telefónica Spain, explains:
“These technologies are essential for industrial modernization. They allow companies to remain competitive and create new business models, shifting from product-focused to service-oriented strategies. Telefónica brings constant innovation to its clients — as well as experience and robust support — as both operator and trusted partner in their most critical transformation projects.”
